With IFSEC International fast approaching, the British Security Industry Association (BSIA) - the trade body representing the UK's private security industry - has revealed its activity plan for this year's exhibition and conference, which makes its London debut on 17th – 19th June.
As the key event in the security industry’s calendar, IFSEC International provides an important focal point for industry practitioners to gather and exchange best practice, and it is the opportunity to network with new contacts, while revitalising existing relationships, that remains at the heart of the Association’s activity at IFSEC.
With this in mind, the BSIA is hosting an informal luncheon on Wednesday 18th June, providing a networking opportunity for both existing Association members and those security companies interested in finding out more about the benefits of BSIA membership. Taking place on the BSIA’s stand (D1500) from 13:30 – 15:30, the event aims to provide a relaxed atmosphere in which industry practitioners can exchange views and catch up with BSIA personnel.
James Kelly, Chief Executive of the BSIA, comments: "Enabling the sharing of best practice between industry professionals is a key function of the Association, and IFSEC provides an annual opportunity for the wider industry to reflect on the successes of the past year and exchange ideas about the future direction of our dynamic industry."
The UK security industry’s presence on the world stage also looks set to grow this year, as the market for security products and services continues to become increasingly international. This year sees the BSIA’s dedicated Export Council celebrate its 20th anniversary, a milestone which the Association is set to celebrate with a drinks reception on its stand at IFSEC International at 15:00 on Tuesday 17th June. Indeed, the event’s move to London looks set to attract an increasingly international audience, supporting UK security exporters in their ongoing efforts to raise our industry’s profile on a global scale, while positioning British-made products as among the best in the world.
Education and technical updates are also key elements of the show for the BSIA, with many Association staff and members taking part in this year’s conference programme, including presentations on IFSEC’s Centre Stage for key Association figures including outgoing Association Chairman, Geoff Zeidler, and his successor, Pauline Norstrom, as well as a number of BSIA section chairmen, including Texecom’s Adrian Mealing, ATEC Security’s Simon Adcock and GJD Manufacturing’s Greg Stuttle. Topics under discussion include advice for security exporters, an update on the Government’s CCTV Code of Practice, and the impact of economic recovery on the UK’s private security industry.
