GESAB and LG drive the modernization of the Control Center of Gran Canaria Mobility
The integration of GESAB, based on its control consoles and its DeskWall and DataWall solutions, and the incorporation of professional visualization technology from LG allow more efficient, safe and continuous operations for Gran Canaria Transport.
GESAB, a company specialized in the design and integration of critical environments, has completed, together with LG, the modernization of Gran Canaria Mobility Control Center in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a project developed for Gran Canaria Transport (TGC) with the aim of evolving the operational management of public transport on the island through a centralized, robust system prepared for real-time decision making.
The new center has been created to supervise and operate the island’s regular transport system, incorporating capabilities that were previously not centralized and providing room for growth to expand workstations and functionalities in the future.
A critical environment designed to operate in real time and to grow with the island's mobility needs
The Gran Canaria Mobility Control Center was created with the aim of centralizing the supervision and coordination of regular public transport on the island, enabling real-time monitoring, a more agile response to incidents and a faster and more informed decision-making. This new space has been conceived not only to meet current operational needs, but also to evolve in line with future mobility challenges.
The operating room includes thirteen planned operational positions, with around eight currently in use offering a clear margin for growth as service needs increase. This scalability is key in mission-critical environments, where infrastructure must ensure continuous availability and efficiency, while adapting to new services, expansions, increased demand or the integration of new information sources.
In this context, GESAB has been responsible for the global integration of the operating environment, applying its experience in critical rooms to ensure safe, efficient and continuous operations. Beyond physical deployment, GESAB’s approach focused on aligning technology, space design and management systems with operators’ real workflows, ensuring that critical information is always available in a structured, clear and actionable way.
The project has been developed with a clear objective: to provide Gran Canaria Transport with a center capable of operating 24/7 with maximum reliability, also offering the necessary flexibility to incorporate new tools, operating procedures and future growth without compromising the performance of the system or the comfort of the team.
DeskWall: operational centralization and efficient control of transport lines
As the technological axis of the project, GESAB implemented DeskWall, its visualization and control platform, which enables structured management of transport system information and signals, preventing data crossovers and improving operational efficiency through advanced features and role-based profiles.
Furthermore, the transition to the new platform was carried out smoothly thanks to the onboarding process designed by GESAB, which trained operators and maintained close support to ensure maximum use of the system.
DataWall: advanced signal management for dynamic and high-resolution visualization
The control room also includes DataWall, GESAB’s advanced video wall manager, which allows dynamic information management, providing high quality signal from multiple sources and ensuring clear and high-resolution visualization, essential in mission-critical environments.
This capacity becomes especially relevant when integrated with LG’s MicroLED video wall, featuring a 0.9 mm pixel pitch, which acts as the main display element of the center, allowing multiple signals to be displayed simultaneously (maps, cameras, telemetry and operational dashboards) with great clarity and reliability for real-time decision-making.
Ergonomics and performance: designed for long shifts and maximum concentration
The ergonomics of the operating position was an essential requirement from the beginning of the project, due to the rotation of shifts and the requirement for concentration during long days. So that, the design of the center has been considered from a comprehensive perspective, taking care of both physical ergonomics and visual ergonomics, two determining factors in critical environments where sustained attention and fast information reading reduce the risk of error and improve response capacity.
To achieve this, GESAB installed 13 single-position Advantis New Generation consoles, designed with large upper boards to healthily accommodate two monitors per operator, guaranteeing correct screen positioning, distances and viewing angles. In addition, the sit & stand system was incorporated, allowing operators to alternate between seated and standing work, improving comfort during extended shifts.
This visual ergonomics also extends to the global visualization of the center, thanks to the LG MicroLED video wall. Its high definition enables clear reading of data and signals from different positions in the room, reducing eye fatigue and improving the immediate interpretation of the critical information shared, especially in high workload situations.
LG professional display technology integrated into a complete critical system
The project incorporates professional visualization technology from LG, integrated by GESAB within the center's operational ecosystem, allowing critical information to be available with clarity, continuity and reliability to support decision-making.
This combined integration, operation and ergonomics by GESAB, together with LG's professional visualization solutions, made it possible to provide the control center with a technological environment aligned with the most demanding standards.
The final result is a critical environment completely adapted to the needs of Gran Canaria Transport and that meets its strictest ergonomic, safety, health and technology requirements.
